Apple sponge cake baked in the oven
Description
Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. You can use apples to your liking—for example, chop them into small cubes and mix into the batter, or slice them into wedges and place on top or between layers. I really enjoy the combination of apples, cinnamon, and various spices. Try it! Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions

Step 1
Wash the apples and cut them into small pieces. Transfer to a saucepan, then mix with a cinnamon stick, powdered sugar, and water.

Step 2
Place the saucepan over heat, bring the mixture to a boil and simmer gently for about 8 minutes.

Step 3
Place the eggs into the bowl of a mixer, then beat until a fluffy foam forms. Gradually add sugar while continuously beating.
- 4
Step 4
Add vanilla extract and sifted flour to get a liquid batter.

Step 5
Grease a small baking dish with butter and pour in the larger half of the batter, then add the apple filling on top, followed by the remaining half of the batter.
- 6
Step 6
Place the pan in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
