Sponge cake on a frying pan

50 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Delicious baked treat for the whole family. The sponge cake is cooked in a pan for about 45 minutes over the lowest heat, covered with a lid. You can make it without cocoa and add a little vanilla sugar—then the cake will be light in color. Ground cinnamon, orange or lemon zest, jam, and similar additions are also tasty. The key is to use only a small amount of such ingredients, otherwise the cake won't rise properly. If you like fluffy sponge cakes, add a little baking powder or neutralize baking soda with apple vinegar.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. The chicken eggs can be at any temperature: warm or cold — this does not affect the whipped mixture. You can omit the cocoa if you want to get a light-colored sponge cake.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Break the chicken eggs into a salad bowl or deep container and add salt and granulated sugar. Whisk everything with a whisk for 3-4 minutes. It is not necessary to beat until fluffy foam forms. You can add any flavoring of your choice.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Add the cocoa powder. The color of the cake will depend on the color of the cocoa; the richer the color, the more chocolatey the sponge will be.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add the premium wheat flour and carefully mix it together with the cocoa into the liquid base. There's no need to rush—this will prevent lumps from forming in the batter.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Finally, pour in the odorless vegetable oil and mix thoroughly.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Grease the bottom and sides of the pan with vegetable oil, then place the prepared batter into it. Put the pan on the stove and cover with a lid. Turn on the lowest or medium heat and cook the sponge cake for 40–45 minutes. First, the sides and bottom of the cake will brown, then the cake itself will rise and become porous.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Check the center of the sponge cake with a wooden skewer; it should come out dry. If the cake is not fully baked or you don't want the top to remain moist, you can turn it upside down and bake for another 5 minutes.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Place the pie on a plate or cutting board and let it cool slightly. Then, slice it into portions and serve with tea or coffee.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Remove from the oven and serve warm or cooled.
