Description
Perfect with tea and coffee. Italian long, crisp biscotti that can be enjoyed by dipping in coffee, hot chocolate, or wine. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Original ingredients: 1 cup (200 g) sugar, 2 eggs, 3/4 cup (80 g) almonds, 2 tablespoons grated orange zest (peel), 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 cups (250 g) flour.

Grate the orange peel into a bowl.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Choose a bowl large enough to hold all the ingredients.

Break two eggs and add sugar. Mix with a whisk.

Continue beating the eggs and sugar until pale yellow. Keep the bowl slightly tilted while beating.

Add vanilla extract, almond extract, orange zest, and almonds. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon.

Divide the dough in half and place it on parchment paper. Bake the crackers at 350°F (175°C) for 40 minutes (flip the baking sheet every 20 minutes). Try not to overbake the crackers; they should be crispy but without cracks.

Remove the crackers from the baking sheet and place them on a rack to cool.

Cut the cracker-bread into long 1 cm thick pieces.

Place the pieces on a baking sheet with the cut sides up and bake for 8 minutes. Turn the crackers over and bake for another 7 minutes. Then cool them on a wire rack.

Now you can work on the chocolate. Place 250 grams of chocolate into a metal bowl.

Place the bowl with chocolate over a saucepan, first pouring 1 cm of water into the saucepan. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat. When the chocolate begins to melt, you can turn off the stove. The steam between the bowl and the saucepan will finish the job.
