Meringue with apples
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Making meringue requires some skill, and your oven must be just right—so the meringue turns out neither soggy inside nor burnt outside. Choose sweet-sour apples, as they pair well with ice cream. If you're ready to work up a sweat, let's begin. 1. First, prepare the biscuit bases for the meringue. For the dough: mix flour, salt, and butter. Add cold water and knead thoroughly until you get a smooth, uniform dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. 2. Bake the biscuits: grease a baking sheet with oil and dust with flour. Roll the dough to a thickness of 0.5 cm and cut out 4 rounds. Place in a preheated oven at 200°C and bake for 25 minutes, until golden brown. 3. Wash the apples and cut into small cubes. In a saucepan, mix them with sugar and orange zest, and cook for about 15 minutes, until softened. Remove from heat and stir in the egg yolks. 4. Beat the egg whites, then add sugar and the apple mixture. Spread this mixture over the baked biscuits and return to the oven for 10 minutes, until golden. Serve the finished meringue with apples alongside ice cream. You can add apple slices for garnish. Enjoy this delicious dessert. The ready dessert can now be served.
