Description
The recipe won’t take much time. Bérenge tekése are easy and simple to prepare. They don’t require any special culinary skills. It’s not even a yeast dough that might not rise. These pies will definitely turn out for you, and you can delight your family with quick and tasty baking. Serve Bérenge tekése with broths, soups, as an appetizer, or simply with tea.

Prepare all the ingredients for the pies.

Melt the butter, add water and salt, stir.

Add the sifted flour.

Knead a soft, elastic dough that should not stick to your hands. Cover it with a towel and let it rest at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.

Prepare the filling. Peel the potatoes, wash them and cut into very small cubes.

Wash the dill or other herbs, finely chop them, and add them to the potatoes.

Salt the filling for the pies and mix.

Roll the dough thinly. Cut circles of 10–12 cm diameter from it. Place the filling in the center of each circle.

Seal the edges of the pastry in a braid shape.

Place the pastries in a baking pan.

Bake the pies in an oven preheated to 190 °C for 35–40 minutes. Place the hot baked pies in a pot and cover with a lid. After 20–25 minutes they will become soft.

When serving, cut the pastries in half lengthwise and brush with melted butter.
