
Basic tomato sauce
Description
Homemade sauce recipe. For the base of this sauce, you can use fresh tomatoes (peeled) in season, but canned tomatoes in their own juice work perfectly as well. Add your favorite spices and herbs to make the sauce more aromatic. If desired, you can prepare a large batch and freeze it. This is very convenient, especially for busy home cooks to appreciate :)

1. Heat vegetable oil and add finely chopped onion. Add basil and oregano; chili flakes can be added to taste. Sauté for a few minutes, stirring.

2. Add the garlic pressed through a garlic press and fry for another minute.

3. Place the tomatoes.

4. Add salt and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to minimum and simmer the sauce for about half an hour. If you want a thicker sauce, cook for an additional 10-15 minutes.

5. The ready basic tomato sauce can be used immediately or transferred to a sterilized jar, cooled and stored in the refrigerator.
