Whole lamb leg roasted in the oven
Description
This recipe for roasting a whole leg of lamb in the oven is quite simple, and I hope you'll enjoy it. I was really scared when I started cooking, as such a large piece of rather expensive meat requires a special approach. But I managed it, and so can you! So I highly recommend taking a closer look at my recipe.

Step 1

1. Wash the leg, dry it, and remove all unnecessary parts—such as excess fat under the skin or the tough outer layer of skin. Rub it with spices, pour the juice of half a lemon over it, and stuff garlic cloves into it here and there. Let the leg sit like this for half an hour to an hour, then place it in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) and roast for 20 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, cut the apples into pieces and place them in a bowl. Add chopped thyme and spices to taste. Pour in broth, cider, honey, and butter. Mix well.

Step 3

3. Braise and roast the leg in this mixture. After 20 minutes, remove it, place it on a bed of apples, pour the resulting syrup over it, and put it in the oven. Turn the leg occasionally and stir the apple mixture from time to time.

4. Check for doneness by piercing the leg in several places after an hour of roasting. If there is no juice or the juice runs clear, it's done. My leg with apples roasted for one hour at 200 degrees Celsius in the oven.
