Banana Foster
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Banana Foster originates from Louisiana (USA), where this dessert is something of a traditional signature dish, a hallmark of the state. Indeed, it's a truly impressive treat. I usually prepare it right in front of guests, as the process is quite spectacular—the dancing flame in the pan after adding the rum always amazes them :) And in terms of taste, Banana Foster is a top-class dessert. So, I highly recommend giving it a try. Serve it chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Peel the bananas and cut them in half lengthwise.
- 2
Step 2

Take the ice cream out of the freezer and let it thaw at room temperature.
- 3
Step 3

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- 4
Step 4

Add brown sugar and cook, stirring, for 3–5 minutes. A caramel should form.
- 5
Step 5

Carefully place the bananas and continue cooking.
- 6
Step 6

When the bananas darken, add vanilla, and 10 seconds later—rum. Do this carefully—the rum will ignite, producing flames. Don't be afraid, no fire will break out :) The rum will burn off in a few seconds, giving the dessert the desired flavor and aroma.
- 7
Step 7

Reduce the heat and let the liquid evaporate (2-3 minutes).
- 8
Step 8

When the liquid in the pot has almost completely evaporated, transfer the bananas (together with a small amount of caramel) into the melted ice cream. That's it, banana foster is ready!
