
Tatar-style Balish
Description
This is a classic Tatar-style recipe for making balish. Actually, there's nothing complicated about the cooking process. The filling consists of meat and potatoes; optionally, you can add fried onions. When serving, sometimes the top of the balish is cut off and used as bread. Enjoy! It can be served with tea or coffee.

Cut the potatoes and meat, add salt and pepper to taste. Mix.

Knead the dough from flour and water. Don't forget the salt.

Roll out the dough to the size of the baking pan, 5 mm thick.

Place the flatbread in a baking dish, forming the edges. Put the filling in the center.

Roll out another dough round, make a hole in the center with the diameter of a glass. Cover the filling with it, and tightly pinch the edges.

Use the leftover dough to make a lid.

Brush the balysh with egg yolk.

Bake in the oven for 2-3 hours at 160 degrees. 10-15 minutes before completion, open the lid and pour warm boiled water (or broth) into the balish. Brush the cooked balish with butter.
