
Grandma's Meat Pie

Delicious baked goods for the whole family. A fresh pie with its warm aroma creates a special coziness in the home. And it brings joy to the stomach. From yeast dough you can make sweet pies and pies with meat, fish, or mushroom filling.

Step 1

1. Make the starter. Pour a small amount of warm milk over the yeast, add a little sugar and flour. Stir and set aside for 10–15 minutes. When the starter rises, add margarine, egg, vegetable oil, salt and the remaining sugar. Mix everything and add flour. Add enough flour so that the dough stops sticking to the hands. It should not be stiff. During the proof, let the dough rest for 3 hours. During this time, knead the dough 1–2 times. Finely chop the cabbage and onion. Fry the cabbage together with the onion in vegetable oil. Salt the meat mince.

2. Divide the ready dough into two unequal parts. Roll out the larger portion of the dough and place it on a baking sheet. Mix the fried cabbage with the minced meat and spread the filling onto the dough.

3. Set aside a small portion of the second part of the dough for decoration. Roll out the remaining dough and cover the filling with it. Seal the edges of the pie so that it does not open anywhere.

4. From the remaining dough, make various decorations to your taste and preference. Brush the pie with egg and place it in the oven. Bake the pie at 200 °C for 45–50 minutes.
