Grandma's Easter kulich
Description
The recipe won’t take much time. So, here’s grandma’s Easter kulich recipe: 1. In warm milk dissolve the sugar, add melted warm butter, well‑beaten eggs, vanilla, half of the flour and, sprinkling the yeast evenly, stir. Mix these components and gradually add the remaining flour until the dough becomes homogeneous and does not stick heavily to the hands. The main thing is that the dough should not become stiff and tough. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1–1.5 hours. 2. Then knead it again and after 15–20 minutes divide it into portions according to the size of the pans (keeping in mind that the dough will almost double in volume in the oven). Let the dough rest in the pan on the table, covered with a towel, for 5–7 minutes. 3. Then place it in a very hot oven and bake for 20–30 minutes; 10–15 minutes before it is done, reduce the temperature by half. Check doneness with a wooden toothpick (if dough sticks to the toothpick when you pierce the kulich, it is not fully baked). Cool the finished kulich gradually, covered with a towel, glaze them and decorate! Glaze: whisk egg whites with powdered sugar until a firm foam forms. Believe me, the kulich made with this recipe will turn out amazing! ;) Serve cooled or slightly warm.
