Description

Homemade pastry for tea. Azerbaijani national cuisine amazes with its originality and unique taste. Children simply adore this treat and can't wait for the baklava to cool completely. Serve at the table.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

Warm the milk, but do not bring it to a boil. Dissolve the yeast in it.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Add eggs and butter. You can use either vegetable or butter, whichever you have in your kitchen.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Gradually add the flour and knead a soft dough. If the dough happens to be too stiff, you can add some milk.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Leave in a warm place for 2-3 hours, until it rises.

  5. 5

    Step 5

Chop the nuts and mix with sugar and cardamom.

  6. 6

    Step 6

After the dough has risen, divide it into 10 pieces. Leave one piece slightly larger than the others, and make the rest the same size. Then roll out each piece as thin as possible. Try to achieve a thickness of 3-4 mm.

  7. 7

    Step 7

Place the largest rolled-out layer at the bottom of a deep dish so that it covers both the bottom and the sides of the dish.

  8. 8

    Step 8

Divide the filling into 9 portions. Layer as follows: dough - filling - dough - filling. When you place the last layer, pinch together the edges of the dough from the top and bottom layers.

  9. 9

    Step 9

Brush the surface with egg yolk and bake in the oven for 8 minutes.

  10. 10

    Step 10

When you take the baklava out of the oven, cut it into diamond-shaped pieces with sides measuring 4-5 cm. For a decorative touch, you can place a half walnut on each piece.

  11. 11

    Step 11

Pour the cut baklava with melted butter and return it to the oven.

  12. 12

    Step 12

To make the syrup, combine sugar and water, and cook until thickened. This will take quite a long time.

  13. 13

    Step 13

Once the baklava is fully ready, take it out of the oven and pour the syrup over it. Yes, right away, while it's still hot. The syrup will then be absorbed.

  14. 14

    Step 14

Pahлава is best eaten cold, but you can also try it hot.
