
Orange compote for winter storage

This compote tastes like a fragrant citrus juice, is rich in vitamins, and is simply indispensable for a winter table. Preparing orange compote for winter is not difficult and is neither time-consuming nor expensive. You can also cook this aromatic winter drink as a mix, adding apples, raspberries, blackcurrants, or cherries. Sour and semi-sweet berries and fruits will pair perfectly with oranges. Serve chilled.

Prepare all the ingredients.

Wash the oranges thoroughly and grate the zest from them.

Next, slice the oranges into rounds about 1 cm thick. Carefully remove the peel.

Place the oranges into sterilized jars.

Separately bring water to a boil, add sugar and the removed zest. Boil the syrup for 10-15 minutes, then strain. The zest has fulfilled its purpose and is no longer needed.

Pour the hot strained syrup over the oranges in the jars. Without sealing, just cover with sterilized lids and let stand for 1–1.5 hours.

Then drain the syrup again and bring it to a boil once more.
