Prepare all ingredients.

Grate the orange zest, being careful not to reach the white pith. Mix the zest with the sugar and set aside. Then squeeze the orange juice and strain out the pulp and seeds. Mix the juice with the eggs. Then combine the sugar with the zest and the eggs with the orange juice.

Prepare a small saucepan, place it over medium heat, and pour in our orange mixture. Add the butter and mix well. Add a little boiling water. Stir constantly. When the butter melts, the curd will begin to thicken on top. Keep stirring until the orange curd has thickened to the consistency of pastry cream.

Pour the still-hot orange curd into sterilized jars. Seal the jars and let them cool on their own. You can set them in hot water or cover them with a blanket. An opened jar of curd will keep in the refrigerator for about a month.
