Orange Crunch Cake
Description
The dessert is simple and quick to prepare. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Grease the pans and dust with flour. Combine graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, nuts, and butter. Divide the mixture evenly between the prepared pans. Set aside. In a small bowl, mix the cake mix, water, orange juice, and oil. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the orange zest. Pour the batter into the pans with the crumb mixture and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely. Frost the layers (crumb side up), top and sides, with icing. Decorate with orange slices and refrigerate. For the icing: in a bowl, beat the vanilla frosting, then mix in the whipped cream. Stir in the orange and lemon zest. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
