1. Slice the well-washed and dried oranges into half-centimeter thick rounds. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, place over heat and bring to a boil.

2. Place the orange slices and cook them over very low heat for 30 minutes. Turn the slices several times during cooking. Turn off the heat and let them cool completely.

3. Place the oranges in a colander and leave for 30 minutes. Arrange the orange slices in a single layer on a rack and put them in an oven preheated to 140 degrees for 30 minutes, placing a baking sheet lined with parchment paper on the bottom rack of the oven beforehand.

4. Turn off the oven, slightly open the door, and let the oranges cool completely. Cut the cooled oranges in half. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, dip each orange slice into the chocolate, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
