Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Scald the orange with boiling water and grate the zest. Then cut it in half and squeeze the juice from the fruit.
- 2
Step 2

Set aside 2 tbsp sugar for coating. Beat the chicken egg with sugar and salt until light and fluffy. A mixer or food processor works best for this. Add orange zest to the egg mixture, pour in orange juice and neutral vegetable oil, and mix thoroughly.
- 3
Step 3

Stir cornmeal, wheat flour, and baking powder into the mixture.
- 4
Step 4

The finished dough will be very sticky and hard to gather into a ball. Put it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
- 5
Step 5

After that, remove it from the refrigerator and roll equal-sized balls. Pour the remaining sugar onto one small plate and powdered sugar onto another. Roll the balls first in sugar, then in powdered sugar.
- 6
Step 6

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and place the dough balls on parchment paper. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

Bake until golden brown on the upper rack of the oven, watching the bottoms of the cookies so they don’t burn.
- 8
Step 8

Let the baked cookies cool for 5 minutes, then remove them from the parchment paper right away, or they may stick to it once cooled. Serve the colourful bake at the table.
