English marmalade
Description
The recipe won't take much time. English marmalade is not only very tasty but also a healthy dessert, especially during the autumn and winter when our bodies need vitamins. Citrus fruits are rich in vitamins, particularly vitamin C, which helps prevent colds. My marmalade is made from oranges and lemons, though it can also be prepared using lime, tangerine, or grapefruit. If you enjoy the citrus bitterness, you can add the peel to the marmalade. It's simple and quick to prepare. The specified amount of ingredients yields 700–750 grams. Usually, the sugar-to-fruit ratio used in cooking is 1:2. However, oranges can be very sweet, so less sugar may be needed. Taste as you go and add sugar according to your preference, especially if you don't like overly sweet desserts. Serve chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for making marmalade.
- 2
Step 2

Wash the fruits and peel them. Remove as much of the white part as possible, as it adds bitterness.
- 3
Step 3

Slice the oranges and lemon into small pieces. Remove the seeds. The net weight after preparation was 800 grams.
- 4
Step 4

Place the oranges and lemon in a saucepan with a non-stick coating or a heavy bottom. Blend with a blender until smooth or process through a meat grinder.
- 5
Step 5

Add sugar.
- 6
Step 6

Mix the fruits with sugar and place the pot on the stove. The fruit and sugar mixture will begin to heat up and become more liquid. Foam will form, but there is no need to remove it—it will disappear on its own later.

Step 7

Cook the marmalade over medium heat. After 15-20 minutes, it will begin to thicken quickly. After another 10-15 minutes, it will be ready. In total, the marmalade should be cooked for 25-30 minutes.

Step 8

When the jam cools down, it will become even thicker—literally, a spoon can stand upright in it. Serve English jam with tea or milk. It's delicious with a piece of white bread, toast, croutons, or pancakes.
