Step 2

2. In the morning, add the remaining yeast, salt, sugar, melted butter, eggs and egg yolk, vanilla, and the zest of one orange to the dough.

Step 3

3. Knead an elastic dough. It's best to do this in a food processor, as the dough needs to be kneaded for a long time and will be very sticky to the hands at first. Place the dough in a bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rest for one to two hours.

Step 4

4. When the dough rises, divide it into 3 equal parts and roll each into a sausage shape.

Step 5

5. Join the ends of the three sausages. Start braiding the braid.
- 6
Step 6

6. Braid the braid and glue the ends.
- 7
Step 7

7. Then, take the braid and form a circle by joining its ends together.

Step 8

8. Cover the ring with a towel and let it rest for an hour. Then place it onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and put it into a preheated oven at 180°C. After 15 minutes, reduce the temperature to 170°C and continue baking for another 20 minutes. The English kulich should turn golden-brown. Let the baked kulich cool, then glaze it and sprinkle with decorative sugar topping.
