
English buns
Description
Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. These soft English buns are best served warm for breakfast with jam or butter. Serve warm or chilled. Ideal with tea.

1. In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Using an electric mixer, blend in butter (or shortening) and 3/4 cup of milk. Add the flour mixture and an additional 1/4 cup of milk if needed to make the dough soft and pliable.

2. Sprinkle the work surface with flour and knead the dough on it for 10 minutes, or use a dough hook and mix for 8 minutes.

3. Lightly grease a bowl and place the dough in it. Cover the surface with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for 60–90 minutes, until it doubles in size. Once risen, roll out the dough to a thickness of 3.5 cm. Cut out buns using a cookie cutter or a round mold.

4. Sprinkle the baking sheet with cornmeal, place the buns on it, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for 60-90 minutes.

5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Add vegetable oil to the skillet and grease the baking sheet with oil. Place the buns on the baking sheet and bake for 5 to 8 minutes.

6. Turn the buns over and bake on the other side for 5 to 8 minutes. Place the buns in a skillet and bake in the oven for 5 to 8 minutes to ensure they are thoroughly cooked in the center.
